RL in surveying stands for reduced level, which is a term for the vertical height of a point relative to a known reference or datum. Reduced level is used in surveying and mapping applications to accurately measure the heights of points on the landscape. It is also used to calculate differences in elevation between two points and measure slopes.
The full form of the RL is reduced level and it is a height taken above the datum surface known as RL of that point.
