      Different between Ashlar and Rubble masonry are as follows: –

      s.no. Ashlar masonry Rubble masonry
      1  Accurately dressed in regular shaped stones are used. Irregular shapes of stones are used.
      2 Ashlar masonry consists with extremely fine bed and end joints Rubble masonry has wide joints.
      3 Stones may be either square or rectangular shaped. stones are always in irregular shape.
      4 High strength Low strength
      5 More costly than rubble masonry. Less costly than Ashlar masonry.
