Define colour of road marking in India

Different colours of road marking in India are:

• Yellow colour markings are used to indicate parking restrictions and for the continuous centre line and barrier line markings.
• Longitudinal solid lines are used as guiding or regulating lines and are not meant to be crossed by the driver, generally of white colour.
• Transverse solid lines indicate the position of stop lines for vehicular traffic, generally of white colour.
• Reflector markers are also used as hazard markers. It is also used as a guide marker for safe driving during nighttime. Hazard markers reflect yellow light that should be visible from a long distance of about 150 m.
• Roadway indicators are in the form of guide posts 0.8 to 1 m high and painted with black and white stripes with or without a reflector.
