O – D Survey stands for Origin and Destination study or survey.

The origin and destination studies of the vehicular traffic determine their number, their origin and destination in each zone u der study.

Needs for Origin and Destination study:

The origin and destination studies are carried out mainly to:

• Plan the road network and other facilities for vehicular traffic
• Plan the schedule of the different modes of transportation for the trip demand.

This is considered to be one of the important studies needed to solve many traffic problems in a zone and most importantly to plan the highway system in a region.
