To build a gravity retaining wall, you will need materials such as steel reinforcing bars, concrete blocks, and mortar. The first step is to dig a trench that is deep enough to accommodate the wall and its supporting elements.
Next, install the metal reinforcing bars in the trench and fill the voids between the bars with gravel or sand. Place the concrete blocks in the trench one at a time, filling the voids between the blocks with mortar. Once all of the blocks are in place, pack the mortar into the joints and around the perimeter of the blocks. Allow the wall to dry and cure for at least 48 hours before using the wall.
