Dewatering is a process used to remove excess water from soil and other media. Construction sites typically use pumps and/or drainage systems to reduce the amount of water present in the area. Depending on the size of the site, this can be accomplished by installing a sump pump, using anchors to hold it in place, or using a trench drain system.
Sandbags and other measures may also be employed to direct water away from the area. In some instances, a well point system will be installed to draw down groundwater levels.
