3. Secure the ceiling joists to the wall studs with nails or screws.
4. Attach furring strips to the underside of the joists in order to provide a level surface.
5. Install drywall or other ceiling material to the furring strips, making sure to secure it with the appropriate screws.
6. Fill any gaps or seams between pieces of drywall with joint compound and then sand the area smooth after it has dried.
7. Once the drywall is installed, prime and paint the ceiling to give it a finished look.
