To import we need to follow the following things:
1. Get an Importer Exporter Code (IEC) from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).

3. Obtain a Certificate of Origin from the country of origin.
4. Submit the Bill of Entry, along with the above three documents and other relevant paperwork, to the customs office at the point of entry into India.
5. After the assessment, obtain a clearance from the Customs branch.
6. Pay the applicable duties, taxes, and other levies to the Customs department.
7. Submit the necessary documents to the goods and Services Tax (GST) department for IGST (Integrated Goods and Services Tax).
8. Secure an Environmental Appraisal Certificate (EAC) from the Indian Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
9. Obtain approval from the local municipal or state pollution control board.
10. Finally, once all the required permissions and certificates are obtained, you can import timber into India.
