2. Mark the edges of the pieces you will be joining, using a pencil and straight edge.
3. Cut the pieces using a table saw or circular saw. Cut the pieces with a slight angle on the edge so that the joint will be stronger.
4. Apply wood glue to the joined edges of the boards and then clamp them together.
5. Allow the glue to dry before removing the clamps and sanding the joint.
6. Fill any gaps with wood filler and then sand the joint again until smooth.
7. Finish by applying a sealant or paint to protect the wood.
