Plywood is a type of engineered wood made from thin sheets of wood veneer. It is typically made by laminating multiple layers of wood veneer together, with each layer oriented at a right angle to the adjacent one for increased strength and stability. Plywood is usually made from softwoods such as spruce, pine, fir or cedar.
The process of making plywood begins with logging trees in a forest and hauling them back to a sawmill.
The logs are then cut into boards, which are then put through a sander before being cut down into thin sheets of veneer. The veneer is then arranged in alternating layers, glued together and placed in a press that applies high pressure and heat to form a solid sheet of plywood. The plywood is then cut into panels of various sizes and shapes depending upon its end use.
