Rectilinear motion is a type of motion in which the object being observed moves in a straight line. This motion is also referred to as linear motion because it occurs along a single axis. Examples of rectilinear motion include a ball rolling down a hill, a person walking down a hallway, or an object moving along a conveyor belt.
