The principle of a digital theodolite is that it uses an electronic sensor to measure and display vertical and horizontal angles in both the X and Y planes. The sensor uses the principles of trigonometry to triangulate the changes in angle and distance between two objects. It can be used to measure and record the position of objects, calculate distances between them, or draw a map of an area.
