The term analysis of prestresses of the concrete members is based on the combination of stresses that is because of direct load which is also known as Prestress Force and bending stresses that is because of live, dead, and prestress force at an eccentricity.
There are three different methods for analysis of prestresses, which are as follows:
Stress concept: In this concrete gets transformed into an elastic material. The prestressing force gets transmitted to concrete as initial internal stress to counteract the internal stress that has developed because of external load is known as the stress concept in the analysis of prestresses. Further, this very combination of the effect of external load and prestressing are studied together as equivalent stresses.
Strength concept: In this prestressing is done for the combination of concrete and high steel, throughout the analysis the bending theory is made in use, where assumptions are made, that the top and bottom fiber of structural elements are subjected to maximum stresses, and even before and after the process of bending the plane section remains plane.
Load balancing method: In this, the process of prestressing is done in order to achieve load balancing, where the flexural member gets transformed into a member under the influence of direct stress.
