Pop ceiling is typically made out of gypsum plasters, which are combined with a variety of finishing materials to create interesting designs and textures. The plaster is first mixed with water to create a slurry and then applied to the framework of wooden or metal strips, which create the outline for the ceiling.
These strips are secured in place and then the slurry is spread over them and left to dry. Once dry, the ceiling is sanded smooth, primed, and then painted or sealed with a protective coat to give it a finished look. Depending on the design, decorative features such as moldings, lighting fixtures, and 3D tiles may also be included.
