The continuous surface parallel to the earth’s mean spheroid is known as a level surface. The level line is a line that represents a level surface. At any point, the level line forms a right angle to the vertical or plumb line. It means that any point on a level line is at the same distance from the earth’s centre.

Level surface is the surface parallel to the mean spheroid of the earth. The line which represents the level surface is known as the level line. The angle of the level line to the vertical line or plumb line at any point is 90 degrees so resulting it means that any point on the level line is equidistant from the center of the earth.

Even though the curved surface of the earth is considered as the plane surface for smaller areas.

A level line in surveying is a horizontal line stretching from one point to another that is used to measure the height or elevation of the ground. It is measured by using a level instrument, such as a spirit level or dumpy level.
