Delhi is located in the seismic zone 4, which makes it prone to earthquakes. Earthquakes occur due to sudden release of energy from the Earth’s lithosphere, causing parts of the Earth’s crust to move suddenly.
The Indian plate is constantly shifting and pushing against the Eurasian plate, which can lead to an increase in strain near Delhi and result in earthquakes.
