Crossings: It is the device provided at the intersection of two rails to allow the passage of moving train along one of the tracks to pass across the other track.
Types of crossing:
• Acute crossing: Acute crossing is also known as the “Ordinary crossing”. It is formed when the right hand rail of one track crosses left hand rail of other track at an acute angle.
• Double crossing: Double crossing is also known as “Obtuse crossing”. It is formed when the track crosses the other track at an obtuse angle.
• Square crossing: When one track in the railway crosses the other track at an angle of 90 degree i.e. right angle then the crossing is square crossing.
