A Pipeline test was conducted to detect high corrosion areas. As we know soil has moisture which will conduct electricity. As current flows from anodic to cathodic areas metal loss occurs and corrosion cell is developed in the pipeline. But soil has low resistance to electricity so it converted to more rapid corrosion in the pipeline.
So before ensuring the route to pipelines, the resistance of soil is measured on the routes of lines to know and locate the area of low resistivity of soil. So pipelines are ensured to be the least corrosive areas.
