Tacheometry is the branch of surveying in which the horizontal and vertical distances are determined by the angular reading with a tacheometer. Tacheometric Surveying is a rapid process for calculating the measurements or reading of the objects. It is a method in which the distance between instrument and staff stations is determined by the tacheometric only. It is an angular type of surveying.
The chaining process is not done in this process and fieldwork can be done in a very short time. Contour plans if the area is mainly done by this process.
As we don’t consider the chaining process and this process is suitable for the hilly areas, areas covered with water or lakes, etc. where the chaining process is not possible or if it is done it will become very slow, tedious, and inaccurate
